Absolutely! We have luggage locker storage in our lobby area for guests to use before they check in and to use on their day of check out.

Please note: we do not supply locks for these lockers! You must bring your own or purchase a lock from our front desk for $5. The HighRoad is not responsible for stored luggage.

Absolutely! We have luggage storage, free coffee, tea, WiFi, bathrooms, and plenty of space to hang out in until check in. Help yourself to free city maps, spaces to charge your devices, and feel free to ask the front desk any questions you may have!

Each guest must provide us with a physical valid government issued ID + valid credit or debit card issued in the guests name.

ID must clearly show the guest’s photo and name. ID cannot be expired, damaged, or invalid. ID must be government issued; we do not accept student IDs, work IDs, medical cards, etc. Drivers licenses, state issued IDs. foreign passports and foreign IDs are accepted.

Hostel guests must reside 90 miles+ from the HighRoad. DC, MD, VA IDs and USA passports are not accepted for Hostel guests.

If you do not have a valid ID, we cannot check you in.

At the HighRoad, we take payment in advanced for all reservations.

For Standard Flexible Reservations: the first night + tax is automatically charged at the time of booking. The remaining balance is charged 24 hours prior to check in.

For Nonrefundable Reservations: the FULL amount is charged at the time of booking.

If we are unable to process payment onto the payment on file, your payment will be flagged and will have 24 hours to update your payment method to avoid cancellation.

Standard Flexible Reservations: Cancellations, modifications, or adjustments should be submitted 72 hours (3 days) or more prior to your date of check in. If you check in and need to shorten your stay, the 72 hour policy is still enforced.

Non Refundable Reservations: Nonrefundable reservations are non refundable and cannot be refunded whatsoever.

Same-Day reservations still apply to our standard cancellation fee of the first night plus tax in the event that you are a no-show or need to cancel.

Guests can stay with us for up to 14 nights in a 365 day period.

DC, Maryland, and Virginia residents who live within 90 miles are permitted to stay in our hotel rooms only.

Hostel dorm rooms are reserved for guests who live 90+ miles away from the HighRoad.

Unfortunately we cannot accommodate long term guests. Guests are able to stay at the HighRoad for up to 14 nights in a 365 day period.

Room assignments are assigned in advanced to ensure each guest is in the most comfortable accommodation possible. While we receive a lot of requests for specific beds or rooms; we do not make any guarantees in the event that we cannot accommodate your request. All requests are noted and we will try our best, but no promises!

Unfortunately we do not provide breakfast! We have a coffee & tea station you may help yourself to. Our fully equipped kitchen areas have plenty of space to cook and store any food purchased at nearby markets. For breakfast recommendations, please visit our Breakfast Info page

We have both shared dorm-style rooms and private rooms packed with everything you need. Communal spaces are open to all.

Absolutely! Guests under the age of 18 are permitted in hotel rooms only.

Guests under the age of 18 must always be under the watch of a parent or guardian 18 years or older.

Shared-dorm style rooms are for guests 18 years or older.

Guests who are staying in the hotel are allowed to have visitors with them.

If you are staying in a shared dorm room, visitors are unfortunately not permitted.

While we are a team of cat and dog lovers, pets are not permitted to stay at the HighRoad

Emotional Support Animals are not permitted to stay.

By law, trained service animals are allowed.

We try our best to assign groups of 2 or more in the same room! If you and your friends have a reservation and want to be in the same room, please reach out to the front desk so we can try to keep you and your pals together!

As of April 1, 2023 the DC hotel tax rate is increasing from 14.95% to 15.95%.
